I was walking to my car in a quiet residential street in Sutton Coldfield a couple of weeks ago and a man was walking towards me with some papers in his hand. As he approached me he said 'Here's one for you angel!' in a very cheery voice and handed me a piece of paper and carried on walking.
I assumed the paper would be a flyer or an advert for something, but it was a plain A4 piece of white paper, covered in a handwritten message. It had been photocopied, so I can only assume all the other pieces of paper he had were the same.
I was really quite confused, and when I turned around, the man had completely disappeared! (dundunduuuuuuuun!)
Anyway, can anyone explain the writings on the paper to me? It reads as follows:
Reinforcement of Harold Godwinson's Presence in the Year 2009AD.
Edith Swanneck is still alive in the form of Christian Frances Coy
Harold Godwinson lives at the top of a steep Senlac Hill (Moss Drive)
80 yards away is Carls House (Housecarls)
40 yards away is King Stephen same century as King Richard Coeur de Lion
The Scotch are singing Happy Birthday (1066AD)
The English are singing it's a mystery tour (Shall lala mystery tour is waiting to take you away)
Finally there is Love in the air (Holy Relics?)
2009AD - 1000 = 1009AD
66 Years after the Birth of our Lord (1066)
In the sixteenth Year of our Reign.
H.G. Wessex
Ok I know who Harold Godwinson was, and therefore why Senlac Hill and 1066AD are relevant to him. And Edith Swanneck and to some extent Housecarls. I know who King Stephen and King Richard Coeur de Lion are. But that doesn't mean this makes any more sense!
What is the relevance of it? I mean, why do we nned to prove Harold II is alive today in Sutton Coldfield? Why the random Beatles lyrics in the middle? What's with the very dubious maths at the bottom? Why has the guy signed it H.G. Wessex? He's dead.
Is this some kind of riddle? An in-joke? An invitation to a scavenger hunt? Or more likely... the ramblings of a mad man?
Thoughts anyone?

I haven't a clue, but maybe its a coded invitation to a party. Not that anyone will attend given directions like that.
