It's been a while...

Here's what's been going on with me lately then, seeing as I haven't actually said anything in here of substance since July!

I've felt a little bit braver about trying things recently. I joined a Roller Derby team! Birmingham Blitz Dames! Roller Derby is awesome. I'm not very good still, but I'm ok considering I'd never put a pair of skates on my feet until 4 weeks ago. I my skater name now. It's 'Nico Warrior' hehe. I wasn't sure at first but now it's kind of grown on me. It's quite fitting because my 'derby mum' is Queen Boudi-See Ya! so it continues the warrior girl thing. Plus Nico is the name of one of my favourite computer game characters from Broken Sword.

I wish I was already good at skating but I'm getting there slowly but surely. I don't really mind too much because I enjoy it and I don't mind landing on my face a lot because it's really fun. And the girls are really lovely and encouraging too. My league is playing the London team at the end of the month and I'm going down to support them and stay overnight and celebrate with the girls when we inevitably win :P I'm really excited to se my first competition! I've been helping out a lot with point scoring and penalty tracking when the bouting team scrimmage after practise, and that's pretty cool too.

I've made a couple of friends at roller derby. Two other girls started the same day as me Leanne and Krysta. I've hung out with Leanne a couple of times outside of practise. Once to go and see some bands and once to go to a roller disco (not to boogie, we just went to get some extra skating practise in!) Oh and she came to the Academy last night with the buds too.

I think I'm going to write a bit more about my new friend Sarah now because she just texted me and I thought 'aww, Sarah's lovely.' She is. Seriously. I just want to hug her all the time! She came to see Captain Horizon with me last week and before hand we had more long chats and found out more ways in which we are the same. From big, mental things to silly things like being a gymnast as a kid.

Talking of Captain Horizon (Alex and Josh's band), exciting times are afoot at camp Captain. Their EP release date has been confirmed as 11th December. It'll be available to download online from iTunes and Napster and places like that and you'll be able to stream it on Spotify and some shops will stock it too I think. Very exciting. The launch party is going to be 30th January too, but I'll let you know more about this nearer the time. They've been very busy gigging too recently and I've been popping along to all of those. I fucking love those guys. :D

Anyway that's all for now. If you want to see me and my buddies dressed up like silly buggers, I've put photos from Halloween up on my facebook so have a nose.

Hope everyone else is spiffy.
