Festive Frolics

Blog Dated 30th December 2009

Well Christmas was pretty good overall. I drove down to my parents' house in London on 23rd. It was quite snowy.

That evening I went with Tasha, Mandy and my mum to see Avatar in 3D. I really enjoyed it, I'd never seen a 3D film before. The plot is nothing new really, it's basically Fern Gully, but it was beautiful to look at.

Christmas eve was a lazy lazy day. I went to see my Nanna and gave her her copy of the Captain Horizon CD she bought. She likes 2 songs on there but the other two are 'a bit loud.' I think that's good for an 80 year old dear!

Christmas day was pretty traditional (for our family at least) in the morning. We (me, mum, dad, Mandy, Shaun and Darren) got up and had breakfast with a Christmas CD Bucks Fizz :) Then my nan's came over and we opened our stockings (contents: sweets, socks and toiletries). Then we opened our presents. I got books, some cosy jumpers, a DS game and some laces for my skates. :D Everyone seemed to like the presents I got for them too so that's pretty cool.

Christmas meal was weird. My family have taken to having Christmas lunch in a restaurant lately. Anyway we met up with my uncle, aunt, 3 cousins and their girlfriends to eat our festive foods.

In the evening we just watched Christmas TV. Which is again unusal in my family because growing up we always had huge Christmases with all the family around, but this year it was just the people who live in my parents' house, plus me and my Nanna.

Boxing day felt more like Christmas used to feel, all the family came over. My Uncle brought his long-bow (yes it's a real one) and target over.

I was better at it than everyone in my family except my uncle :) Woo hoo!

We all had a boxing day meal around the table in a traditional way.

And after that we all sat around singing and drinking and playing charades (I drank all my cider whoops!) and stuff.

My family also had a karaoke game called 'Wii Sing.' Unfortunately, none of us can, except my cousin Ceri's girlfriend Kerry. (yes they have the same name :P) Here's a video of my mum trying to rap, Kerry singing and my aunt dancing to the Pussycat Dolls.

Me and my Nanna were drinking buddies.

And that's about it for Boxing Day.

I drove back up to Birmingham on 27th. It took well over 4 hours, the roads were so busy. My maximum speed on the M25 was 15mph. Ugh.

That evening was the fundraiser for my roller derby team. Captain Horizon and Signify played and loads of my buddies, including Glenn and Steph and Arran who live far away came up for it. It was a bit stressful to start with (the cash machine ate my card) but I was so pleased with it in the end and got super drunk and partied with my buddies and roller buddies :D

The next day I had a lazy day, watched loads of Dexter, 24 and the Guild, then went to a mates house to watch The Day of the Triffids. I'm back at work today. It was freezing. It's snowing right now and I like snow when it doesn't effect me and all I have to do it look at it.

Tomorrow Sarah's back from Bristol (yay!) and we're going to see Harriet for the last time before she moves to Watford on 2nd Jan! *sob* Then we're going to pop along to the Captain Horizon gig at the Road House.

And of course, Thursday is New Years Eve which will be all kinds of fun and messy :D
